About Candide Group

Candide Group is an impact investment firm founded in 2013 that leverages capital to support the transition away from an extractive global economy toward one rooted in social justice and sustainability. The firm works with families, foundations, and other institutional clients who seek to align their capital with values-driven investing, managing 100% impact portfolios that encompass direct deals, venture and private equity funds, innovative financial structures, cash, public equities, debt funds, real assets, and additional investment vehicles. Since its inception, Candide Group has directed over $299 million into more than 170 private companies and funds, demonstrating a strong commitment to equity and inclusion both internally and within the organizations it supports. The firm maintains a US emphasis while operating across multiple sectors and geographies. According to its latest impact report, 98% of the companies and funds in which Candide facilitates investments have BIPOC, women, and gender-expansive people represented in leadership positions. The firm operates through four thematic impact verticals: Home and Place, Employee Ownership, Climate Justice, and Inclusive Entrepreneurship. Candide Group employs intersectional lenses across these verticals to support individuals and communities historically harmed by extractive finance. The organization recognizes that achieving its vision requires pursuing multiple strategies, ranging from transformative investing and active advocacy to campaign participation and public engagement. The firm is committed to deepening relationships with families, foundations, and institutions seeking to direct capital toward justice and equity outcomes.

About this Role

Candide Group is seeking a Director of Inclusive Entrepreneurship to lead its efforts in advancing economic justice through capital allocation. The Inclusive Entrepreneurship vertical focuses on expanding opportunity, strengthening local businesses, building generational wealth, and supporting entrepreneurs and communities historically excluded from traditional financing. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of capital allocation experience, investment management expertise, and a deep commitment to equity and justice work. The role offers the opportunity to shape Candide’s approach to inclusive entrepreneurship while building a robust investment pipeline, conducting rigorous financial and impact analysis, and potentially developing new investment vehicles. The position requires someone comfortable with both debt and equity analysis who can conduct thorough due diligence and communicate findings effectively across diverse stakeholders. This is a strategic leadership role that blends investment operations, thought leadership, and community engagement. The successful candidate will work independently while collaborating with colleagues, serve as a representative of Candide in industry forums, and help build a community of stakeholders invested in advancing entrepreneurial opportunity for underrepresented communities. Approximately 15% travel may be required for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively source and evaluate investment opportunities around the Inclusive Entrepreneurship vertical that align with Candide’s financial and impact objectives
  • Conduct in-depth research to develop and maintain a robust investment pipeline, while collaborating with colleagues to ensure integration across initiatives
  • Conduct deep and nuanced assessments of impact strategies in the Inclusive Entrepreneurship vertical, identifying critical needs for entrepreneurs, small business owners, and community-based businesses
  • Assess the potential contribution of innovative fund strategies toward addressing identified needs
  • Lead comprehensive due diligence and underwriting across asset types including venture, loan funds, community development financial institutions, private equity, and private debt
  • Ensure both financial and impact outcomes are met through rigorous analysis
  • Independently draft high-quality investment memorandums with strong analytical support and attention to detail
  • Contribute to the ideation and design, structuring, and potential launch of an Inclusive Entrepreneurship fund and/or investment vehicle
  • Oversee fundraising efforts, investor engagement, and capital deployment strategies if a fund or vehicle is launched
  • Lead comprehensive analysis of the impact vertical and continuously track market and policy issues pertinent to advancing inclusive entrepreneurship
  • Develop and share insights through quarterly commentaries, impact reporting, and other Candide communications
  • Represent Candide as a leading Inclusive Entrepreneurship practitioner and contributor at conferences and industry events
  • Build a community of interested followers who could be prospective partner investors or stakeholders in the space
  • Support ongoing monitoring and performance management of a diverse portfolio of legacy investments in this vertical (15-20 active funds)
  • Collaborate with the investment team to identify risks, track impact and financial performance, and ensure timely reporting
Requirements
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and build a robust pipeline aligned to financial and impact objectives
  • Deep commitment to expanding pathways to generational wealth through entrepreneurship
  • Understanding of financing solutions and gaps for underrepresented entrepreneurs
  • Demonstrated ability in impact diligence and financial analysis
  • Strong skills in assessing community needs and evaluating impact strategies
  • Demonstrated success in leading due diligence and underwriting across a range of asset classes (venture, blended capital structures, private equity, and private debt funds)
