Job summary

UPMC is seeking an experienced leader to develop, plan, and lead the Imaging business unit operations and related service center initiatives. You will provide day-to-day operational support to imaging staff and radiologists, working closely with hospital and imaging leadership to fulfill the system's mission.

The role emphasizes oversight of staff, performance management, financial monitoring, and compliance with accrediting bodies, while advancing quality initiatives and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight and support to staff; ensures timely, accurate performance evaluations and development plans.
• Liaises with hospital administration, medical staff and external physicians; leads imaging staff.
• Supports rollout of operational and quality initiatives; develops imaging policies and procedures.
• Stays current on imaging developments; supports research and education where applicable.
• Monitors financial performance; drives efficiency, revenue growth and cost control; budgets.
• Sets priorities and reports results for imaging initiatives aligned with hospital goals.
• Fosters a culture of patient and staff satisfaction, empowerment and accountability.
• Oversees system imaging initiatives and ensures compliance with accrediting bodies.

Job description

Develop, plan, and lead the operations of the defined Imaging business unit, as well as lead and/or manage system Imaging Service Center initiatives, projects or departments as defined. Provide day to day operational support and leadership to imaging employees and radiologists. Work in full cooperation with hospital and imaging administrative and physician leadership to carry out the mission and vision of the UPMC Health System, and Imaging Service Center.

Responsibilities:

• Provides oversight and support to staff. Ensures performance evaluations are completed timely and accurately, and establishes performance goals and developmental plans to continue to promote ongoing professional development.
• Conveys courtesy, respect, enthusiasm and positive attitudes with patients, staff, medical staff and visitors. Function as departmental liaison with hospital administration, medical staff, Patient Care Services, external referring physicians and office staff, and other hospital departments. Provide ongoing leadership and support to radiologists assigned to business unit. Supports leadership in activities including roll-out of operational and quality initiatives. Develops policies and procedures in conjunction with local hospital operations as well as Imaging Service Center.
• Keep current regarding developments in professional/technical fields, taking leadership role internally and externally in providing patient and community education. Support research initiatives and operations if applicable.
• Monitors and analyzes financial performance, including profitability and volume metrics. Implements appropriate changes to increase efficiencies, enhance revenue, and control expenses. Supervises and oversees budget development, including operational and capital budgets with attention to department and organizational program goals, established standards of performance, and economic constraints; Demonstrates creativity and initiative and focus on cost containment and operational effectiveness activities. Monitors operating statistics and patterns to identify trends and changes across the business unit.
• Establishes criteria for setting priorities; defining goals and objectives on selected initiatives in conjunction with local hospital priorities as well as the Imaging Service Center. Defines and reports results
• Participates in developing a corporate culture of patient and staff satisfaction, empowerment, problem solving and accountability.
• Responsible for system imaging initiatives, projects, or management of programs as defined by the Imaging Service Center.
• Maintains departmental compliance with accrediting bodies (i.e. TJC, ACRO, DOH, CMS, OSHA, DEP, etc.) and ensures all activities are carried out in compliance with organizational policy and local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing activities, organizational structures, management philosophy and mission and vision statements.
