Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Reports to the Senior Director of Operations and the Medical Director of Imaging Services. This position plans and implements overall diagnostic imaging policies, procedures, and coordinates the overall strategic planning of the daily activities of the Diagnostic Imaging Services Department. These departmental services include diagnostic PET, CT, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine across different locations. The Imaging Director will ensure that all relevant Federal, State, Accreditation, Radiological and Safety guidelines are implemented and always followed.

Requirements

Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or GED completion is required.
2. Current Certification (AART) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
3. Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Radiologic Services; completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
4. Master’s degree preferred, in Radiology, Business or Healthcare Administration.
5. Preferred 5 years of Radiology Director leadership experience.
6. Expert knowledge of Radiology standards and practice.

Job Knowledge

1. Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques of radiology to direct and back up the activities of staff.
2. Knowledge of radiology standards to monitor and evaluate work of technologists.
3. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology sufficient to pinpoint area for radiography.
4. Knowledge of radiology equipment and testing to determine needs and evaluate equipment for purchase.
5. Knowledge of safety requirements to provide instructions and to recognize and correct hazardous conditions.
6. Skills in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations, identifying, and resolving problems.
7. Skill in writing reports and preparing correspondence.
8. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
9. Skill in providing guidance and instruction to technologists.

• Takes ownership of special projects, researches data and follows through with detailed action plans.
• Staff training and coaching.
• Handles advanced in-office coding for high end testing, and imaging clinic coding.
• Works with additional departments to ensure proper claim filing is handled in a timely manner.
• Supervises and works with Certified Coding Supervisor for auditing and compliance using HCC and CMS guidelines.
• Verifies payroll and vacation requests.
• Actively participates in problem identification and resolution and coordinates resolutions between appropriate parties.
• Audits certified department employees to maintain current certifications.
• Audits work done by the entire Coding department to ensure compliance at all levels.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
• Adheres to Corporate, Department and Human Resource policies and procedures.
