UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a full-time Supervisor to lead our Diagnostic Radiology team. The role provides daily supervision, operational oversight, and leadership for staff, with emphasis on quality, safety, and patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in developing, revising and implementing department policies, procedures, and QA initiatives.
  • Monitors employee compliance with safety standards and enforces them.
  • Ensures efficient workflow, staffing levels, and timely communication across the department.
  • Maintains staff records and conducts performance conversations when needed.
  • Participates in budgeting and helps control costs for supplies and staffing.
  • Engages in staff recognition and empowerment while focusing on patient experience.
  • Stays current on radiology developments and attends necessary training.
  • Ensures quality control tests are performed and documented; ensures equipment operates within parameters.
  • Ensures staff orientation and conducts annual performance evaluations.
  • Participates in staff interviews and assists with hiring decisions.

UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a full-time Supervisor to support and lead our Diagnostic Radiology team!

In this role, the Supervisor, Imaging Service ensures the efficient operations of the department, promotes effective workflow and staffing, and facilitates communication between staff and leadership. The Supervisor will provide daily operational and supervisory support for the department while maintaining an active clinical presence and serving as a key leader for a team of approximately 15 employees, supporting staff development, scheduling, and ongoing quality and accreditation initiatives. Ideal candidates will have excellent customer service skills, a passion for problem-solving, and be strong communicators with a collaborative mindset.

This full-time position will work 40 hours per week, primarily daylight shifts, with varying start times between 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Occasional off-shift, weekend, or holiday coverage may be needed to support staffing and departmental needs. Weekend and holiday coverage is expected only when necessary to maintain patient care operations. The Supervisor will also participate in a weekly administrative call rotation.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the development, revision and implementation of department policies, procedures, and QA initiatives. Communicates and enforces policies and procedures to staff.
  • Monitors employee compliance with safety standards and ensure standards are enforced.
  • Ensures efficient workflow, delegation of responsibilities, efficient staffing levels, and timely communication to both staff and other members of management are maintained throughout the department.
  • Maintains records and reports for each staff member to ensure performance is met and has crucial conversations with staff when needed.
  • Participates in the budgeting process and strives to maintain costs and meet the budget of supplies and clinical staffing operations.
  • Engages in staff recognition and staff empowerment while maintaining a focus on the patient experience
  • Remains current regarding developments in the field of radiology and attends training sessions to maintain knowledge as necessary.
  • Ensures that all quality control tests and procedures are conducted and documented and that performance of all equipment is accurate within established parameters to meet regulatory requirements. Ensures repairs are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures staff are properly oriented and performs annual performance evaluations of staff.
  • Provides input to staff interviews and makes hiring decisions.
