You excel at the day-to-day execution of HR responsibilities, including managing recruitment, hiring, and onboarding, and providing clear, helpful answers to employees regarding their benefits, development and leave needs. At the core of our search, we're looking for a detail-oriented and supportive HR professional who is passionate about creating a positive employee experience through the seamless execution of our people operations.
This position is United States remote. Our team is distributed across the “U.S.” and works remotely.
Primary Responsibilities
You will work under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of IT & HR and be responsible for the full scope of the Human Resources function at Mission Driven Finance, shaping the employee experience and building a high-performing, engaged, and inclusive culture.
Talent Management, Acquisition & Training
- Develop and manage the yearly hiring plan, including job evaluations aligned to career pathing.
- Lead the full lifecycle of recruiting, ensuring we attract and hire the right people for the right roles.
- Own the process, content and delivery for onboarding new hires, ensuring a welcoming and effective integration into the company.
- Own the process, content and delivery of the offboarding process, including exit interviews and state-specific compliance.
- Design, develop, and deploy talent assessment tools like StrengthsFinder and 360-degree reviews.
- Own the process and tracking for employee status changes, including promotions, leaves, and transfers.
- Provide support and coaching to employees on all people-related matters, including performance improvement plans (PIPs), goal setting, and development discussions.
- Act, as necessary, as a bridge between leadership and employees, facilitating clear communication and understanding of expectations, objectives, performance and organizational goals.
- Design, develop, and deploy all-employee training programs for compliance (e.g., sexual harassment) and professional growth (e.g., performance reviews, goal setting).
Operations & Compliance
- Create, review, and maintain HR policies and the employee handbook, ensuring connection with industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with Accounting and Finance to ensure accurate and timely delivery of employee pay.
- Coordinate with Legal, Accounting and Finance to support the full lifecycle of contractor and consultant management.
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
- Own HR technology systems and vendor relationships.
- Maintain and execute a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) strategy and related policies.
- Drive the annual and multi-year planning for compensation and benefits, ensuring alignment with company size, profitability, and values.
- Develop and deliver total compensation statements.
- Identify, report, and monitor key HR metrics to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving all escalated HR matters.
- Contribute actively to cross-functional collaborations and projects, leveraging diverse perspectives to drive innovative outcomes.

And Have a Background And Skills That Include
- 8-10+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
- Deep knowledge across all HR functions, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining processes, procedures and training related employee relations and compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail, document review, and proofreading skills
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a high level of professionalism to both internal and external audiences
- Experience leading and managing a team remotely
- Thrive in an evolving startup environment, adeptly managing competing priorities and deadlines with adaptability and responsiveness.
- Strong comfort with and demonstrated ability to learn technology tools, such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Suite, project management systems (Asana), and communication systems (Slack)
Preference for candidates that also have one or more of the following:
- Experience working with multi-state HR compliance
- Experience working with a remote workforce
- Exposure to, or deep interest in, (impact) investing; this might include experience working directly with nonprofits, social enterprises, philanthropic endeavors, or investment firms
- Fluency in another language beyond English
- Lived experience in our target investment communities, such as communities of color, Native or Indigenous, New American, veteran, low-to-moderate income, or other overlooked and underestimated populations

Compensation
This is a Director Leader level role with an annual salary range of $115,000 - $137,500 per year, plus company incentives, based on your unique skills and experience.

It's important to note that starting salaries for most candidates will fall at or below the 50th percentile of the above salary band. However, starting salaries will be determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
