Job summary

Mercy Hospice seeks an experienced Hospice Director to lead the operations, clinical quality, and administrative functions of Mercy Hospice. This role requires building strong teams, partnering with physicians and community providers, and guiding strategic growth in hospice services.

The Director will oversee compliance with federal/state regulations, drive quality improvement, and ensure resources support compassionate patient care across the organization.

Qualifications

• BSN required and RN licensure in-state; 2–4 years health-related experience.
• 3–5 years progressive leadership responsibility in healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of hospice regulations, certification, and accreditation standards.
• Excellent communication and observational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Mercy Hospice operations including clinical quality and safety.
• Ensure financial performance, regulatory compliance, and administrative functions.
• Build and lead strong interdisciplinary teams; partner with physicians and community providers.
• Develop strategic initiatives to improve processes and growth in hospice care.

We're looking for an experienced Hospice Director who can lead both the people and the operations behind that care. This leader will oversee the overall operations of Mercy Hospice, including clinical quality, financial performance, compliance, safety, growth, and administrative functions, while ensuring our teams have the support and resources they need to provide exceptional care.

This is an opportunity for a leader who understands hospice, but also knows how to build strong teams, improve processes, partner with physicians and community providers, and think strategically about the future.

Required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current Registered Nurse license in state of practice
• 2-4 years of health-related experience
• 3-5 years of progressive leadership responsibility
• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations, certification requirements, and accreditation standards related to hospice
• Excellent communication and observation skills

Preferred

• Master's degree in a health-related field or Business Administration
• Previous hospice management experience
• Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN) or Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Administrator credential
