Job summary

City of Raleigh North Carolina seeks a visionary leader to direct the Historic Attractions Section within the Historic Resources and Museums Program. The Director will oversee daily operations at Pullen Park Amusements and stewardship of the historic carousel at John Chavis Memorial Park.

This role reports to the Executive Director of HRM and will supervise 3 full-time staff, 4 permanent part-time staff, and up to 80 temporary staff plus volunteers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Leisure Activities, Physical Education, Sports/Athletics, Therapeutic Recreation or related field; 5–7 years’ experience in recreation program/activity and/or special event implementation, marketing, coordinating, or related work
• Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all budgetary revenue and expenditure accounts for Pullen Park.
• Provide administrative and management support for facility management, including program maintenance, staff supervision, and operations.
• Directly supervise 3 full-time staff, 4 permanent part-time staff, and dozens of temporary staff, coordinating work schedules.
• Review all programs, events, and classes prior to implementation.
• Oversee development and distribution of marketing materials adhering to City guidelines.
• Serve as a liaison and build partnerships with surrounding community groups.
• Promote programs and recruitment of staff through presentations to universities and civic groups.
