Job summary

The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for Associate Director of the High Throughput Reaction Discovery and Synthesis Center (HT-RDS Center). The successful candidate will design workflows for automated, micro-scale parallel experimentation to optimize new reactions and enable high-throughput library synthesis for biological screening.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; 5–7 years related professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• An advanced degree is preferred; a PhD would be ideal.
• Experience in catalysis and synthetic methodology development with laboratory automation, instrumentation, and data analysis.
• Experience developing workflows for micro-scale parallel reaction optimization, small molecule synthesis, analysis of reaction mixtures, purification and characterization of products, and handling air-sensitive materials.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a facility that supports micro-scale parallel reaction optimization and high-throughput synthesis for biological screening.
• Develop workflows for automated/parallel experimentation for use by academic groups, external schools, and industrial users in a fee-for-service model.
• Maintain the facility’s instruments and perform day-to-day administrative tasks.
• Purchase chemicals and consumables for the facility.
• Collaborate with principal investigators to incorporate new technologies and capabilities.
