Job summary

Trinseo in Exton, PA, seeks an R&D Director, Innovation Pipeline & Growth Platforms to lead the development of engineered materials innovation and future growth platforms, identifying opportunities and maturing them into business concepts.

You will collaborate with Global Innovation Centers, business units, and external partners, guiding early research, assessing feasibility, and establishing governance for a disciplined product development process.

Qualifications

Ph.D. preferred in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
20+ years of proven industrial R&D experience translating early-stage ideas into viable products, businesses, platforms, or growth initiatives.
Experience engaging across business units, global teams, and external ecosystems is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Identify future growth opportunities and align technology roadmaps with leadership.
Build external networks with universities, startups, research institutes, technology providers, customers, and innovation partners.
Lead early-stage opportunity assessment and maturity of concepts into a credible innovation pipeline.
Establish governance for innovation tracking, portfolio reviews, and transitions to formal business or product development pipelines.
