Job summary

UC Santa Barbara is seeking a Financial Services Manager 1 to provide leadership in the development and central administration for all graduate student financial support, including fellowships, academic appointments, and fee remission programs. You will lead the Graduate Division's financial support initiatives and advise on multi-year budgeting and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training/experience (required).
• 7–9 years progressively responsible experience in financial management, budget administration, or financial analysis.
• 4–6 years supervisory experience.
• Broad knowledge of financial transactions, systems, and related compliance requirements.
• Strong skills in spreadsheet and database software.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across the organization.
• Experience building financial models and performing multi-year planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for graduate student financial support programs, including fellowships and fee remission.
• Manage the Graduate Student Financial Support unit and oversee campus-wide fellowship activities.
• Develop budget strategies and funding models to support division and campus goals.
• Advise senior leadership on complex funding decisions and multi-year sustainability.
• Oversee academic appointment policy compliance and labor relations matters.
• Direct the Fellowships unit staff and oversee budget reconciliation and reporting.
