Planet seeks a Director for Government Affairs in Washington, D.C. to lead engagement with Congress and national security agencies, shaping policy and funding opportunities for Planet’s data capabilities.

The role requires navigating federal processes, coordinating with executives, and advancing strategic positions across government and commercial teams. You must have 8+ years of relevant experience including leadership, plus an active TS-SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience including 6+ years in supervisory or leadership roles.
• Active TS-SCI security clearance or ability to obtain
• Direct experience in U.S. national security policy with Congress and federal agencies
• Excellent project, time, and budget management skills
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Lead national security engagements with Congress to shape policy and funding opportunities in key Appropriations and Authorization legislation
• Communicate Planet’s value to the U.S. national security audience and design new analysis for stakeholders
• Coordinate with executive, government affairs, business development, and sales teams to pursue opportunities in the national security ecosystem
• Act as strategic advisor to sales and customer success teams
• Identify and mitigate political and programmatic risks affecting Planet’s business and programs
