Alvarez & Marsal in Houston seeks a Director to lead our Global Tax Incentives practice on R&D tax credit engagements. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, conduct client interviews, and develop technical memos and quantitative work papers.

You will also support federal tax consulting, communicate with client personnel across operations and finance, manage multiple projects, and mentor Associates and Managers; occasional travel is required.

Qualifikationen

• 4–6+ years of experience working on R&D tax credit engagements.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or STEM.
• Advanced degree preferred (MA/MS, JD, or LLM).
• CPA, licensed attorney, or applicable certification required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information and establish credibility with clients.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, emphasizing Excel and complex spreadsheets.

Aufgaben

• Lead interviews with client subject matter experts, write memoranda, perform tax technical research, and develop quantitative workpapers supporting amounts claimed.
• Assist on federal tax consulting services, including meals and entertainment, accounting method assessments, energy incentives, and other deductions.
• Communicate directly with client personnel, including operations, finance, accounting, and engineering.
• Manage and implement multiple projects simultaneously, including client interviews, computations, analysis, data gathering, and coordination of A&M and client resources.
• Assist with tax research, responses to IRS inquiries, drafting IRS protest letters, and writing other technical memoranda as needed.
• Travel to client sites up to 25% of the time.
• Manage risk, resources, staffing, and financial performance for multiple engagements at once, including billing, collections, and project budgets.
• Identify key tax issues and accurately quantify the impact in a clear, concise, and thoughtful analysis.
• Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses.
• Conduct day‑to‑day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work product.
• Supervise, develop, mentor, and motivate Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers through on‑the‑job training, performance feedback, counseling, and fostering a team‑based atmosphere.
• Manage workload and deadlines for Associates, Senior Associates, and Managers with a focus on quality, efficiency, and project effectiveness.
• Demonstrate commitment and desired behaviors while working with others who have diverse experiences, skills, and perspectives.
• Support business development efforts, including identifying opportunities for add‑on work, thought leadership, new client pitches, and optimizing the compliance process.
