Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience, including Big 4 or equivalent technical tax advisory.
  • Deep international tax experience, including cross-border structuring, treaty application, and CFC rules.
  • Hands-on transfer pricing experience, including policy design, documentation, and audit defense.
  • Strong tax provision and corporate income tax compliance experience in a multinational environment.
  • Experience supporting tax audits and controversy matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-tax stakeholders.
  • Operate independently in a fast-moving, matrixed environment.

We’re looking for a Director, Global Tax for Amer Sports’ Tax team!
What You Will Be Doing

Amer Sports is seeking a Director, Global Tax to serve as a senior leader within the Global Finance organization, supporting global tax planning, transfer pricing, audit defense, tax risk governance, and the technical tax reporting elements that impact tax returns, provisions, disclosures, and documentation across the Company’s global operations. This role serves as the Company’s lead technical tax advisor for significant transactions and intercompany matters, ensuring tax positions are strategically designed, technically supported, operationally executable, audit-ready, and consistently reflected in tax returns, tax provisions, financial statement disclosures, and supporting documentation.

The ideal candidate is a highly agile, self-driven tax professional with deep international tax, transfer pricing, and controversy experience, along with the ability to translate complex tax matters into clear, decision-ready guidance for senior stakeholders

Specific Responsibilities Include
Tax Planning & Strategy
  • Support and execute global tax planning initiatives aligned with business objectives, legal entity structure, intercompany flows, and operational changes.
  • Identify and evaluate tax planning opportunities across jurisdictions to optimize effective tax rate, cash tax, and risk profile.
  • Advise on the tax implications of business restructurings, cross-border transactions, principal structures, and intercompany arrangements.
  • Provide technical tax analysis and documentation for significant transactions, including how positions should be reflected in tax returns, tax provisions, disclosures, and uncertain tax position assessments.
Transaction Tax Advisory
  • Review and advise on acquisitions, divestitures, legal entity restructurings, financing arrangements, supply chain changes, and tax operating model transformations.
  • Analyze tax consequences of significant business transactions and document technical conclusions.
  • Ensure transaction-related tax positions are appropriately reflected in local tax returns, tax provisions, deferred taxes, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Prepare and review technical memoranda supporting material tax positions and uncertain tax positions.
Tax Accounting & Provision Governance
  • Review effective tax rate drivers and identify planning opportunities.
  • Support deferred tax asset valuation assessments and uncertain tax positions.
  • Partner with Group Controllers and Finance teams to ensure consistency between provision calculations, statutory filings, and disclosures.
  • Support tax accounting reviews for material transactions and non-routine events.
Transfer Pricing
  • Own and enhance the global transfer pricing framework, including policy design, intercompany agreements, documentation, and audit-ready support.
  • Ensure transfer pricing policies are aligned with operational reality, financial planning, legal entity structure, and OECD/local country requirements.
  • Partner with FP&A, business finance, Legal, and external advisors to operationalize transfer pricing outcomes and monitor related risk.
  • Support transfer pricing controversy, advance pricing agreements, mutual agreement procedures, and related audit defense where applicable.
Operational Transfer Pricing
  • Ensure transfer pricing policies are operationalized through ERP, legal entity, and finance processes.
  • Monitor actual results against transfer pricing targets and coordinate year-end adjustments.
  • Partner with FP&A, Group Controllers and finance teams to manage transfer pricing execution and financial reporting implications.
  • Govern intercompany charging processes and transfer pricing controls.
Tax Reporting, Compliance & Provision Support
  • Provide technical support for global income tax return positions, including analysis of transactions, intercompany arrangements, restructurings, and other significant tax-sensitive items.
  • Support the global tax provision process, including current and deferred tax analysis, uncertain tax positions, tax disclosures, and coordination with the Group Controller and external auditors.
  • Ensure tax planning and transaction-related positions are consistently reflected across tax returns, provision workpapers, financial statement disclosures, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments across key markets and assess implications for tax reporting, compliance, and planning.
Audit Defense & Controversy Readiness
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation supporting tax return and transfer pricing positions.
  • Develop controversy strategies for high-risk jurisdictions.
  • Lead responses to information requests from tax authorities.
  • Coordinate transfer pricing audit defense, advance pricing agreements, and mutual agreement procedure initiatives where appropriate.
  • Assess recurring audit themes and implement process improvements to mitigate future exposures.
Pillar Two / Global Minimum Tax
  • Support Pillar Two compliance, reporting, modeling, and planning initiatives.
  • Evaluate impacts of global minimum tax developments on legal entity and operating structures.
  • Support the coordination with finance teams to integrate Pillar Two requirements into forecasting and reporting processes.
Tax Risk & Governance
  • Strengthen SOX and tax control environments.
  • Ensure consistency of tax positions across returns, provisions, disclosures, and transfer pricing documentation.
  • Develop governance procedures around non-routine transactions.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Serve as a trusted tax advisor to the VP, Tax & Customs and senior finance leaders on complex tax matters.
  • Collaborate across Finance, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, Supply Chain, HR, brands, and external advisors to embed tax considerations into strategic and operational decisions.
  • Help build scalable tax processes, controls, documentation standards, and governance routines appropriate for a global, publicly listed multinational environment.
  • Communicate technical matters clearly and concisely to non-tax executives, auditors, advisors, and business partners.
What You Need To Succeed
  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience, including Big 4 or equivalent technical tax advisory experience.
  • Deep international tax experience, including cross-border structuring, tax treaty application, and controlled foreign corporation rules.
  • Hands-on transfer pricing experience, including policy design, documentation, implementation, operational transfer pricing, and audit defense.
  • Strong tax provision and corporate income tax compliance experience within a multinational environment.
  • Experience supporting tax audits and controversy matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to analyze complex transactions and ensure tax conclusions are properly reflected in returns, provisions, disclosures, UTP assessments, and supporting documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical tax concepts into clear guidance for non-tax stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and drive results in a fast-moving, matrixed environment.
What We Consider a Plus
  • CPA, JD, LLM in Taxation, MST, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • In-house tax leadership experience within a large multinational, multi-brand, consumer goods, retail, or publicly listed company.
  • Familiarity with SAP and tax technology platforms such as Vertex, ONESOURCE, or similar systems.
  • Experience with SOX-relevant tax controls, public company reporting requirements, and tax governance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting M&A, legal entity rationalization, supply chain transformation, or principal model initiatives.

A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is $220,000 - $250,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training. Please note that the range reflects the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program.
