The Director, Global Medical Publications will support Otsuka in leading and developing a scientific communication strategy for publications and congresses. The role involves working closely with the Global Medical Affairs, Clinical, and Value & Real-World Evidence Teams, as well as Publications Management Specialists, to plan and execute publication activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Strategic Publication Planning Group (SPPG) meetings for assigned compounds to compile insights for scientific communication platforms, lexicons, and global publication plans.
- Manage the Scientific Communication Platform and Lexicons to ensure they are current.
- Develop and execute global publication plans with the publication planning team and Working Groups.
- Drive communication strategies aligned with medical affairs and clinical teams across regions.
- Build and maintain relationships with external authors and participate in publication activities.
- Provide updates on publication activities to cross-functional teams.
- Facilitate congress presentation development and review, including content enhancement.
- Support engagement with the external medical community through various channels.
- Assist in digital and patient-centric communication activities, including social media and digital platforms.
- Collaborate on content development for educational sites and congress strategies.
- Lead internal communication regarding congress coverage and reporting.
- Manage publication vendors, budgets, and operational activities in collaboration with the Publications Management Team.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years in healthcare/pharmaceutical sector, with 5+ years in Medical Affairs or Scientific Publications.
- Master's degree in Science required; PhD or PharmD preferred.
- At least 3 years in a leadership role managing a team.
- Experience in CNS, Nephrology, or Rare Diseases is a plus.
- Proven experience in scientific peer-reviewed publications and global medical communications.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects under deadlines.
- Vendor management experience, including budgets and timelines.
- Leadership skills, including influencing, coaching, and collaboration.
- Understanding of Datavision and iEnvision modules preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% (domestic and international).
Educational Qualifications
- Advanced degree in scientific/healthcare field (PharmD, PhD, MS).
- ISMPP CMPP designation is preferred.

Additional Information
Salary range: $183,335 - $274,160 plus incentives, based on experience and skills.
