The Director, Global Medical Publications will support Otsuka in leading and developing an overall scientific communication strategy for publications and congresses. They will work closely with the Global Medical Affairs Teams, Clinical Teams, Global Value & Real-World Evidence Teams, and Publications Management Specialists to plan and execute publication activities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Strategic Publication Planning Group (SPPG) meetings for assigned compounds to compile insights that inform scientific communication platforms, lexicons, and global publication plans.
  • Oversee the management of Scientific Communication Platforms and Lexicons for assigned compounds to ensure they are current.
  • Develop and execute global publication plans with publication planning teams and Working Groups.
  • Drive communication strategies and ensure regional/local strategy alignment.
  • Build relationships with external authors and engage in publication activities, including congress presentations and steering committees.
  • Provide updates to cross-functional teams on publication activities.
  • Facilitate congress presentation development and review external publication content.
  • Support engagement with the external medical community and digital communications activities.
  • Collaborate on content development for educational sites and strategic planning for medical congresses.
  • Lead internal communications on congress coverage and manage publication vendors and budgets.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years in healthcare/pharmaceutical sector, with 5+ years in Medical Affairs or Scientific Publications.
  • Master's degree in Science required; PhD or PharmD preferred.
  • 3+ years in leadership roles managing teams.
  • Experience in CNS, Nephrology, or Rare Diseases, and knowledge of scientific publications and industry standards.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% (domestic and international).
Educational Requirements
  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MS).
  • ISMPP CMPP designation preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $183,335 - $274,160, plus incentives. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, tuition reimbursement, 401(k), flexible time off, paid holidays, and more.
