Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Senior Director of Internal Communications to lead a global, multi-site program that informs and engages employees across time zones and cultures.

You will translate complex business, technical, and financial information into clear messaging, establish editorial standards, govern brand voice, and drive change communications for acquisitions, integrations, and transformations while partnering with Marketing, HR, and Legal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in internal, employee, or corporate communications.
• At least 3 years at a Director or equivalent senior level.
• Experience leading internal communications for a global, multi-site, matrixed organization.
• Ability to work effectively across time zones and cultures.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Portfolio demonstrating ability to make complex or technical subject matter clear and engaging.
• Writing samples required.

Responsibilities

• Lead global internal communications strategy aligned with business objectives and values.

Job description

• Develop and execute a global internal communications strategy aligned with business objectives, growth strategy, and values
• Translate complex business, technical, and financial information into clear messaging for employees worldwide
• Establish enterprise messaging architecture, editorial standards, brand voice guidelines, and communications governance
• Build and manage a global editorial calendar
• Advise the CEO, executive leadership team, and Business Unit leaders on messaging strategy, timing, tone, and audience impact
• Write and produce CEO messages, town hall content, leadership video scripts, talking points, Q&A documents, and presentation narratives
• Design and produce global town halls and leadership forums, including content, logistics, and follow-through
• Coach senior leaders and managers and equip them with cascade toolkits
• Coordinate messaging with Nikkiso Co., Ltd. corporate communications in Japan
• Lead communications for acquisitions, integrations, restructuring, brand transitions, leadership changes, system implementations, and enterprise programs
• Develop change communications frameworks and stakeholder maps
• Support brand integration and harmonization across legacy and acquired entities
• Partner with Marketing, Legal, HR, and SHEQ on crisis and issues communications
• Design communications for a predominantly deskless workforce using mobile-first tools, digital signage, shift-based formats, and manager-led channels
• Establish translation and localization processes
• Amplify safety communications and reinforce safety culture across sites
• Support operational excellence, continuous improvement, and quality programs
• Build and lead a hub-and-spoke network of regional and Business Unit communications counterparts
• Own the internal channel ecosystem, including intranet, email, digital signage, video, collaboration platforms, and events
• Evaluate, justify, implement, and drive adoption of internal communications technology with IT
• Define and report reach, readership, engagement, sentiment, comprehension, and business-outcome metrics
• Implement listening mechanisms such as pulse surveys, feedback loops, focus groups, and site visits
• Lead, mentor, and develop internal communications staff
• Manage the internal communications budget, agency and freelance partnerships, and vendors
• Partner with HR on employee experience, engagement, onboarding, talent, and employer brand initiatives
• Partner with Marketing to align internal and external narratives

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, or a related field
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in internal, employee, or corporate communications
• At least 3 years at a Director or equivalent senior level
• Experience leading internal communications for a global, multi-site, matrixed organization

• Experience planning and executing change communications through integrations, restructuring, or transformation programs
• Experience advising and coaching senior executives
• Credibility and executive presence to offer candid counsel and hold a point of view
• Success reaching distributed, deskless, or frontline populations through channels beyond corporate email
• Understanding of communications needs in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to influence and deliver through dotted-line and matrixed relationships
• Fluency with internal communications platforms, content production tools, and analytics
• Comfort building business cases for new tools and driving adoption
• Sound judgment with confidential and sensitive information
• Ability to travel up to 25%, including international travel
• Preferred: experience in industrial manufacturing, engineering, energy, industrial gases, cryogenics, or another technically complex sector
• Preferred: experience communicating within an organization grown through acquisition
• Preferred: experience with a Japanese, European, or other non-U.S. parent company structure
• Preferred: working proficiency in a second language relevant to the footprint (Japanese, Spanish, German, Mandarin, or Korean)
