Job summary

Gilead Sciences Inc. is seeking a Director of Executive Protection to lead the protection program for senior executives globally from its Foster City, CA location.

The role reports to the Head of Executive Protection within the CFO organization and requires strategic oversight of security operations, risk assessments, and incident response. You will collaborate with legal, HR, and corporate security leaders, coordinating with law enforcement as needed, and you will manage third-party providers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years in security or protection roles.
• Experience supporting senior executives and high-profile events.
• LEOSA credentials and ability to obtain security-related certifications.
• Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 30%).

Responsibilities

• Conduct advances for travel and security needs; assess threats at airports and venues.
• Provide travel safety and security briefings to executives and crews.
• Coordinate with legal, HR, and security leadership on protection operations.
• Oversee relationships with vendors and external security partners to mitigate risks.
• Monitor intelligence and geopolitical threats; integrate with GSOC and intelligence teams.
• Support executives on short notice, including irregular hours and international travel.
• Develop and implement standard procedures for protection of people and assets.
• Demonstrate leadership with confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment.
