Job summary

Flagship Pioneering in Cambridge, MA seeks an Associate Director/Director of International Accounting & Government Compliance to own global accounting, compliance, and financial close for Flagship’s international subsidiaries, coordinating with Vistra and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
• Experience supporting international expansion and entity setup.
• Experience managing outsourced service providers (e.g., Vistra) across countries.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, with working knowledge of IFRS and local statutory GAAP.
• Experience with foreign currency accounting, consolidations, and intercompany transactions.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication; ability to work with scientists and management.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Establish operating playbook for international operations in collaboration with Legal, HR, Treasury, Tax, and Compensation.
• Own accounting and administration for UK-based equity and compensation programs, coordinating with US Compensation on design and reporting.
• Define governance oversight for international entities and replicate Flagship’s operating engine in the UK.
• Own accounting and compliance for international subsidiaries, including close, local reporting, and eliminations.
• Ensure accurate recording in local books and parent consolidation, including currency translation.
• Manage annual audits, tax compliance, and primary contacts for auditors and tax authorities.
• Coordinate local statutory audits and tax filings; monitor regulatory requirements.
• Maintain internal controls and policies across international entities; manage Vistra relationship and onboarding.
• Support international billing and cost allocations; coordinate with Finance Ops on intercompany charges.
• Develop budget-to-actual reports for senior leadership; perform close activities for government contracting entity.
• Partner with Legal and HR on entity setup as new international entities come online.
