Job summary

The Director, Gift Policy at the University of California, Berkeley leads the intake, drafting, and negotiation of charitable gift agreements for UC Berkeley and the Regents, ensuring donor intent, tax compliance, and university interests are protected.

Reporting to UDAR, this role directs a high‑volume portfolio, sets templates and guidance, and collaborates with campus counsel, fund-raising staff, and faculty to align gifts with strategic priorities, while enabling up to 5 days remote work

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in advancement operations and contract administration.
• Expert knowledge of charitable gift and fund agreements.
• Ability to draft complex agreements, assess risk, and advise stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Leads intake, drafting, review, and completion of charitable gift agreements for Regents and UC Berkeley Foundation.
• Develops language for complex gifts, endowments, pledges, and nonstandard arrangements.
• Translates donor intent into precise terms, ensuring compliance and long-term administration.
• Manages a high-volume portfolio with guidance to staff and partners.
