Job summary

Hanwha Energy USA in Houston, TX is seeking a Director of Project Development for gas-fired power plant projects serving data centers. You will lead a technical team from concept through financial close, coordinating with strategy, environmental, Data Center, and finance teams.

The role blends project development with engineering, commercial analysis, and regulatory awareness to deliver utility-scale gas projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering (Master’s is a plus).
• 15+ years of experience in power generation, natural gas turbines, EPC, or energy project development.
• Experience with gas turbine and gas engine power projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development of natural gas power plant projects from concept through close.
• Conduct feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, and technology selection.
• Develop conceptual designs, site layouts, and equipment specs.
• Analyze plant performance, fuel options, emissions controls, and BESS/data center integration.
• Provide leadership on environmental permitting.
• Prepare capital cost estimates and O&M cost assumptions.
• Support financial modeling with heat rate, output, degradation, and availability.
• Lead due diligence for acquisitions or partnerships.
• Prepare proposals, RFP responses, and investment memoranda.
• Coordinate EPC contractors, OEMs, and permitting agencies.
• Track milestones and ensure alignment with strategy.
