Job description

T1 Energy is bringing solar manufacturing back to the U.S. by building a domestic solar supply chain. Our mission is to invigorate America with scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy. Our fully operational 5GW solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, can manufacture more than 20,000 modules every 24 hours. By the time you finish reading this paragraph, we will have produced two solar panels that will power American homes and fuel domestic AI. We're focused on building advanced American manufacturing and we're passionate about engineering a better future filled with abundant energy.

The Role

T1 Energy is looking to hire a Director, EHS to lead all environmental, health, and safety operations at our G1 solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas. This is a senior leadership role for an EHS professional who knows large-scale, high-throughput manufacturing inside and out; someone who has built programs, led teams, and driven safety cultures in environments where the line never stops and the stakes are always real.

G1 is one of the largest solar module manufacturing facilities in the United States, producing more than 20,000 modules every 24 hours. The EHS challenges here are those of high-volume advanced manufacturing, glass handling, electrical testing, lamination, chemical use, and a large, diverse workforce operating around the clock. You\'ve navigated this kind of environment before. You understand the regulatory landscape, you know how to build programs that scale, and you lead by example on the floor as much as in the office.

What You\'ll Do
  • Own all EHS programs and compliance obligations for the G1 solar module facility, including worker safety, industrial hygiene, environmental permitting, chemical management, and emergency response.
  • Lead and develop a multi-person EHS team supporting a high-volume, 24/7 manufacturing operation across multiple shifts.
  • Develop and maintain safety programs covering the specific hazards of solar module manufacturing, including glass handling and breakage, high-voltage electrical testing, lamination and thermal processes, soldering and flux fume exposure, adhesive and encapsulant chemical handling, and heavy material movement.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations, as well as any applicable local requirements.
  • Manage environmental permits, air quality reporting, waste management programs, and regulatory agency relationships at the state and regional level.
  • Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes with rigor and transparency, driving systemic fixes rather than surface-level responses.
  • Establish and manage chemical safety programs including SDS management, hazard communication, PPE programs, and safe storage and handling protocols.
  • Partner with Operations, Facilities, and Engineering teams to integrate EHS requirements into production workflows, equipment installations, and facility changes.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs across all levels of the organization, from line operators to senior leadership.
  • Track, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics to leadership, using data to drive proactive risk reduction and continuous improvement.
  • Build and sustain a safety culture where every employee, on every shift, feels ownership over EHS performance.
Who You Are
  • A seasoned EHS leader who has led the function in a large-scale, high-volume manufacturing environment and built programs that hold up under pressure and scrutiny.
  • Deeply knowledgeable in OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ regulatory requirements, with a track record of keeping complex operations fully compliant.
  • A strong people leader who develops EHS teams and earns credibility on the floor, not just in the boardroom.
  • Operationally fluent and collaborative; you know how to integrate safety into the way manufacturing actually runs without becoming a roadblock to production.
  • Proactive and data-driven in your approach to risk; you\'re looking for the next incident before it happens, not after.
  • Composed and decisive when things go wrong, because in manufacturing, they occasionally do.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of EHS experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing EHS programs at scale: large facilities, large workforces, and complex operations.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ regulatory requirements applicable to advanced manufacturing.
  • Experience managing environmental permits and regulatory relationships at the state and regional level in Texas is a strong plus.
  • Proven track record building EHS management systems, safety programs, and safety cultures in demanding manufacturing environments.
  • Experience leading EHS teams across multiple shifts in a 24/7 production environment.
  • Familiarity with solar module manufacturing processes and associated hazards, including glass handling, electrical testing, lamination, soldering, and chemical use, is a strong plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
