University of North Texas Health Fort Worth Center for Human Identification (CHI) seeks a Director of Forensic Education Programs to lead and expand CHI’s training initiatives for forensic scientists, law enforcement, and medicolegal stakeholders. The role emphasizes curriculum development, apprenticeship oversight, and statewide collaborations to advance forensic education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in biology, chemistry or a forensic science-related area, and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a qualified forensic DNA analyst (or equivalent) in an accredited forensic DNA laboratory.
  • Must be a currently or previously qualified forensic DNA analyst with hands-on casework experience in extraction, quantification, amplification, and detection methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage CHI’s training program (TX SB 1620) with a statewide curriculum working group.
  • Coordinate with state oversight agencies, partners, and campus partners to produce curriculum and codify results.
  • Track apprenticeship progress and engage with participants to discuss completion status of modules.
  • Secure virtual sessions for questions and troubleshooting.
  • Develop knowledge assessments and track apprenticeship production metrics for reporting to the TX State Legislature.
  • Develop an on-site capstone event to demonstrate trainees’ competency.
  • Maintain OSAC Registry standards and ensure training materials comply.
