Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Director of Fulfillment Automation Concept & Design to lead development of flexible automation concepts and scalable solutions across Walmart’s fulfillment network. The role collaborates across engineering, operations, product, finance, and external partners to translate business needs into modular designs and investment recommendations.

The team defines architectures, material flows, capacity models, and standards, guiding concepts from early design through deployment,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 5 years’ experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area.
• 7 years’ experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area with 3 years supervisory experience.
• Doctorate: Computer Engineering, Masters: Computer Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead concept development, system design, and investment recommendations for flexible and emerging fulfillment automation solutions.
• Translate business and operational needs into scalable automation architectures, material flows, capacity models, and design standards.
• Use data, simulation, and financial analysis to evaluate technologies, design tradeoffs, scalability, and ROI.
• Lead cross-functional design efforts with Operations, Product, Finance, Real Estate, Construction, and technology partners.
• Build engineering capability and develop repeatable, modular concepts for pilot to scaled deployment.
• Develop and mentor top-tier automation talent to deliver innovative fulfillment solutions.
