Job summary

Fenwick & West is seeking a Director of Financial Systems to lead strategy, implementation, and ongoing support of the firm's financial systems, primarily Aderant Expert, guiding the team on architecture, integrations, and reporting.

The role supports finance objectives with deep SQL, .NET/Python, and Microsoft stack expertise, ensuring data integrity, security, and reliable processing across offices, with preferred Bay Area presence.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of financial systems experience within a law firm.
• 10+ years of experience managing and developing teams.
• Experience leading system implementations and cross-functional technology initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage the Financial Systems staff, providing hands-on guidance on architecture and problem-solving.
• Develop and own the Firm's financial systems strategy and roadmap, including ERP integrations.
• Own the Financial Systems budget and vendor relationships, negotiate contracts.
• Oversee emerging technology roadmap and evaluate newer technologies for automation.
• Oversee system security, access controls, data integrity, and governance of master files.
• Direct the design, development, and support of reporting tools, dashboards, and self-service data solutions.
• Ensure uptime and reliability of accounting systems.
• Own data feeds, APIs, and integrations between core systems and third-party platforms.
• Lead project management for system implementations, upgrades and migrations.
• Oversee end-user training and documentation with IT Training.
• Translate business requirements into system solutions; participate in governance discussions.
• Support integration of new offices or acquired client bases into systems.
