Qualifications

• Excellent writing and editorial judgment; ability to translate complex science, strategy, and deal terms into clear communications for diverse audiences.
• Strong strategic thinking and executive presence; counsel senior leaders and contribute to Leadership Teams.
• Issues management capability with scenario planning, risk assessment, and rapid response.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management; influence without direct authority.
• Understanding of compliance requirements for communications in regulated environments (Legal, HCC, Regulatory, disclosure).
• Digital and media fluency; leverage owned, earned, and shared channels to advance reputation and business goals.
• Ability to rapidly learn, evaluate, and adopt new AI tools and ways of working.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead integrated communications and public affairs strategies for Innovative Medicine BD, Discovery, Product Development and Supply, and External Scientific Innovation priorities.
• Create and maintain a messaging platform that articulates strategy for media, investors, policy leaders, and partners.
• Translate complex science and M&A strategies into clear narratives to support priorities and strengthen reputation.
• Lead or co-lead communications for priority deals and partnerships through announcements, milestones and integration-readiness.
• Develop core materials (message maps, Q&As, talking points, announcements) aligned with Legal, Regulatory, Finance, Investor Relations and Global Corporate Affairs requirements.
• Lead communications readiness and rapid response for deal-related media inquiries and regulatory developments.
• Partner with integration leaders on change communications and stakeholder engagement for smooth cultural integration.
• Shape public affairs strategies related to innovation and partnerships with Global and Regional teams.
• Governance: establish playbooks, templates, and workflows; measure success with share of voice and engagement metrics.
• Counsel senior leaders on communications strategy and media interviews; manage relationships with external stakeholders.
