Job summary

Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Director of External Communications to lead the external corporate communications strategy for a Phase 2/3 development-stage biotech. The role collaborates with commercial, IR, clinical, medical affairs, research and HR to ensure consistent, compliant messaging across press, web, social media and conference materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree in Life Sciences or related field; additional communications and/or journalism qualifications are an asset.
• 8–10+ years of progressively senior communications, investor relations, or public relations experience, with at least 5 years in biotech, pharma, or life sciences.
• Understanding of the healthcare ecosystem, including clinical workflows, regulatory landscapes, reimbursement environments, and therapeutic areas (GI, Immunology and/or specialty therapeutics).
• Excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to translate clinical and scientific data into clear, accurate, non-promotional external messaging.
• Experience with developing and executing communication strategies and tactics.
• Demonstrated experience in public-company investor relations and financial communications, including press release drafting, disclosure coordination, and earnings-related materials.
• Working knowledge of Canadian and/or U.S. securities disclosure requirements and familiarity working with a disclosure committee.
• Strong relationship-management skills with analysts, and agency partners; sound judgment under time pressure in high-stakes situations.
• Proven ability to work with leadership teams in a fast-paced, regulated industry; strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to multi-task.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Develop communication strategies and plans that convey corporate and product stories to external audiences.
• Coordinate with the executive team and function heads to steward corporate brand, positioning and messaging.
• Create and update overarching narrative and message architecture for website, investor materials, social channels, and medical communications.
• Obtain approval for branding strategy and content from the Executive Team and stakeholders.
• Draft external communications materials (corporate website, press releases, R&D Day, investor materials) with SME input; CM0/Medical experts retain content accountability.
• Support clinical/medical content with subject matter experts and Responsible leaders for interpretation and accuracy.
• Contribute to press releases, earnings releases, corporate updates, and milestones with CFO/GC/CEO; prepare briefing materials for earnings calls and conferences.
• Develop talking points and Q&A for investors, media, and public forums; ensure message discipline.
• Assist IR with corporate deck, fact sheet and website content; maintain consistent, compliant messaging.
• Coordinate external messaging calendar with clinical catalysts and disclosure obligations.
• Manage corporate social media presence (LinkedIn, X/Twitter) with a compliant voice.
• Provide writing support for scientific/medical materials and congress content; ensure review and approval by accountable leaders.
• Maintain fluency in disease areas and competitive landscape to sharpen external messaging.
• Support commercial in defining messages for gastroenterologists, allergists/immunologists, pediatric subspecialists, patients, payers, investors.
