Director, Events Project Delivery

Location: Hybrid (3 days in-office/2 days remote), Malvern, PA, East Windsor, NJ, or Remote if not within 50 miles

Reports to: VP of PMO

Travel: 10% - 15%

Overview

We are seeking an innovative and results‑driven Director of Events Project Delivery to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of HMP Global events. This role combines project management excellence with event operations expertise to ensure seamless execution of multiple event brands through a shared services model. The Director will oversee a diverse portfolio, including conferences, webinars, live and virtual events, and special initiatives, while optimizing processes, aligning teams, and driving efficiency across the enterprise.

As a strategic change leader, this individual will enhance SOPs, streamline workflows, and implement Hive changes to improve operational performance. They will leverage systems thinking, data‑driven decision‑making, and disciplined program management to lead cross‑functional collaboration and guide teams through transformation with clarity and accountability. Experience leading product rollouts, service enhancements, software implementations, or business transformation initiatives—particularly within Product Development, IT, or Operations—is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end planning and execution of a diverse portfolio of in‑person, virtual, and hybrid events, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget, and high‑quality delivery.
  • Manage a minimum of 20 concurrent event projects spanning programming, logistics, technology, promotions, and production.
  • Contribute to a rolling 12‑month roadmap of more than 120 event initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals and seamless coordination across the Events Project Management team.
Project Frameworks & Governance
  • Advance and maintain standardized HMP Global project management frameworks that enable efficient, scalable event delivery.
  • Establish and uphold PM governance protocols, compliance standards, and operational best practices.
  • Regularly analyze, refine, and document workflows, SOPs, and Hive processes to optimize event execution using PMI‑aligned methodologies.
  • Leverage Hive project management software to monitor milestones, track progress, and ensure accountability across teams.
Leadership & Communication
  • Lead and inspire cross‑functional teams—including Marketing, Education, Meetings, Editorial, IT, Creative, and Production—to execute events with precision and impact.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, providing precise, proactive, and consistent communication throughout project lifecycles.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and shared accountability across departments.
  • Act as a visible change leader, championing innovation and continuous improvement in event operations.
  • Drive enterprise‑level process improvement initiatives that elevate project delivery, leveraging data‑driven insights and industry best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement of PM processes, SOPs, and Hive frameworks to enhance execution efficiency and delivery quality.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks to ensure successful event outcomes.
  • Develop and implement creative, scalable solutions to address challenges and optimize performance.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of project management experience, with a strong emphasis on event and conference management.
  • Proven track record managing large‑scale, multi‑dimensional events encompassing logistics, content, technology, and promotions.
  • Experience leading product rollouts, service enhancements, software implementations, business transformations, or organizational change.
  • PMP certification preferred (additional credentials such as PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent are a plus).
  • Demonstrated success in developing and operationalizing standardized project management frameworks for large, complex event portfolios.
  • Strong background in shared services or matrixed environments, managing multiple concurrent initiatives under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to streamline operational processes to enable scalability.
  • Proficiency in project management platforms (Hive preferred) and collaboration tools (MS Office, SharePoint, Jive).
  • Strong business acumen, with experience tracking event performance, budgets, and ROI.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Strategic Leadership: Aligns event execution with enterprise priorities and drives organizational effectiveness.
  • Operational Excellence: Applies structured project management methodologies and best practices to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes.
