Job summary

ICF is hiring an experienced Senior Business Development Lead in environmental services with a focus on Florida. The role drives growth in water and energy sectors, manages client and teaming partner relationships, and provides oversight of strategy and technical work across geographies and regulatory platforms.

You will mentor junior staff, lead BD activities, and coordinate with teams nationwide, with travel as needed. The position is remote with Florida preference.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience with environmental, energy, and/or natural resource projects.
  • Experience leading business development efforts including the development of technical and cost proposals.
  • A well-developed industry network with private/public sector clients and regulatory agencies with proven ability to win project work.
  • Strong business development acumen and an understanding of the market and ability to capture new work for ICF.

ICF is hiring an experienced and technically accomplished Senior Business Development Lead in environmental services with an environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or related background. You will lead business development activities and drive growth and play a leadership role in growing our services with a focus in Florida. You will drive growth in the water and energy sectors for our environmental services and manage client and teaming partner relationships.

You will provide oversight, strategy, and technical advice for projects, with support from a team to successful completion. You will be able to apply a wide range of experience and demonstrated capabilities in the pursuit of complex projects across multiple geographies and regulatory platforms.

You will support the growth and development of our team as a technical leader, mentor to junior staff, and principal contributor to business development activities. You will work with ICF team members across the country, maintaining working relationships with client contacts and be willing to undertake periodic short-term travel. Position is remote with a preference for a location in Florida.

What You Will Do
  • Lead business development and build relationships with clients and substantially contribute to business development in energy, water, and other areas with an emphasis in Florida.
  • Lead project teams and staff, including subconsultants, on project tasks, including strategy development, agency coordination, and report and deliverable preparation.
  • Oversee the management of all aspects of a project including client contact, agency coordination, budget control, invoicing, schedule, personnel allocation/planning, technical approach, and subcontractor involvement.
  • Lead or advise staff on regulatory and natural resource agency coordination and consultation efforts as required under federal regulations and statutes such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Clean Water Act (CWA).
  • Write and review technical reports and public environmental documents.
  • Perform QA/QC review of project documents, reports, presentations, technical memorandums, and other work products with a focus on technical adequacy, regulatory compliance, and client-specific requirements.
  • Provide mentoring and training to staff in all aspects of the position, including but not limited to technical expertise, project and client management skills, writing, business development and other consulting-specific skills.

What You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience with environmental, energy, and/or natural resource projects

  • Strong business development acumen and an understanding of the market and an ability to identify and effectively position for and capture new project work for ICF.
What We’d Like You To Have
  • Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental policy, biology, or related discipline.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead business development and growth in environmental services.
  • Experience with growth and project execution in the State of Florida.
  • Detailed knowledge and demonstrated experience with NEPA, CWA, and ESA, agency consultation and coordination, and scientifically sound assessment of project effects.
  • Ability to collaborate across ICF divisions, build and maintain client and teaming partner relationships, and generate new environmental services business.

Pay Range

There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
