As the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, you are responsible for building and leading the EHS program for the data center campus and associated support offices. This is a safety-first role: you set the overall safety strategy, ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and drive a strong safety culture across operations, maintenance, construction, logistics, and office environments. You will partner closely with Facilities, Operations, Construction, HR, and Legal to manage risk, reduce incidents, and keep the site audit-ready at all times.
We are hiring a dedicated Environmental Compliance lead alongside this role to own the deep permitting and environmental regulatory work (air, water, land, waste). That means your energy goes where it matters most: safety programs, field execution, and culture; with a close partner handling environmental compliance day to day.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a closely related field required
One or more of: CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CHMM, CSHM, or equivalent EHS credential
10+ years of progressive EHS experience in industrial, manufacturing, energy, data center, chemical, pharmaceutical, or other high-risk environments
5+ years in a senior EHS leadership role with responsibility for multiple functions or sites
You have built EHS programs from the ground up, not just maintained programs someone else designed
Experience running safety on a complex, large-campus operation with multiple trades and contractors working at once
Working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and OSHA 1926; OSHA 40 trained
Certified CPR/AED trainer, or close enough to it that you can get there quickly
Direct experience with OSHA and EPA compliance programs, including audits, corrective actions, and regulator interactions
Comfortable in front of customers — you have presented safety and compliance programs to clients and held your own on the details
Experience working around high-energy systems (electrical, mechanical, chemical) and coordinating safety with operations and maintenance
You have owned safety at a site, with real accountability for outcomes — this is a boots-on-the-ground role, not an advisory one
Deep understanding of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and best practices for high-reliability facilities
Strong incident investigation and root-cause analysis skills
Comfortable working across all levels of the organization, from technicians to executives
Clear written and verbal communication; able to produce concise procedures, trainings, and reports
Practical, field-focused mindset with willingness to be present in plant/field environments, not just office-based
Familiarity with Texas regulatory requirements and agencies (including TCEQ)
Experience developing insurance coverage for on-site operations
Experience standing up or maturing an EHS program in a fast-growing organization
Data center construction and operations experience
Experience hiring and building out an EHS team
Regular travel to the Fort Stockton, TX campus
Availability to respond to incidents and emergencies outside of standard business hours
