Job summary

Carolina Container seeks a Director of Environmental, Health and Safety to lead EHS programs across its manufacturing and warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a culture of safety excellence.

The role develops policies, conducts risk assessments, trains staff, investigates incidents, and drives continuous improvement in safety and environmental initiatives, reporting to leadership. A Bachelor's in related field is required with CSP/CIH preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering or related field is required.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, CSD, ASP, or CIH preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
• Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
• Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
• Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
• Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
• Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
• Develop and execute company-wide safety strategies, policies, and programs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
• Lead corrective action efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and supervisors.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and response planning.
• Monitor safety metrics and provide regular reports to leadership.
• Oversee environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.

Description

The Director, Environmental, Health and Safety is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across Carolina Container’s manufacturing and warehouse operations. This role ensures compliance with applicable regulations while promoting a culture of safety excellence. The Director, Environmental, Health and Safety will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
