Job summary

Vercel is seeking a Director of Professional Services to build and lead our Professional Services function. Forward Deployed Engineers embed with strategic customers to design, build, and ship production apps using Next.js, AI SDK, and v0, taking projects from prototype through production rollout.

This is an in-person (hybrid) role based in San Francisco, Austin, or New York, requiring 3 days per week in the office.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering or related delivery roles.
• 5+ years leading customer-facing engineering teams in high-growth environments.
• Experience with modern web tech and LLM-powered applications.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop the Professional Services team, including hiring standards and compensation.
• Define the engagement model and staffing for embedded customer engagements.
• Own delivery excellence from discovery to production deployment.
• Establish the commercial model: packaging, pricing, capacity planning, resource allocation.
• Stay hands-on in architecture reviews and critical engagements.
• Define handoff protocols between Forward Deployed Engineering, TAMs, Solutions Architects.
• Codify learnings into repeatable playbooks and reference architectures.
• Synthesize customer insights into product feedback for Engineering and exec leadership.
