Job summary

Evolutio, a consultancy focusing on observability, APM, security, and AI-driven platforms, seeks a Director of Engineering Services. You will lead client engagements, grow the engineering consulting team, and align projects with business outcomes.

As a senior leader, you’ll mentor engineers and architects, drive project delivery, and shape governance, profitability, and strategic pillars. You’ll partner with executives to ensure quality and client success across Fortune 1000 engagements.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of Engineering experience in Observability, SRE, and/or DevOps.
• 6+ years of Engineering Leadership experience leading client or internal consulting teams at scale.
• Proven track record in consulting mentorship: coaching and training teams on technical and non-technical consulting skills (SOWs, deliverables, execution, client collaboration).
• Deep Observability expertise with vendor-agnostic approach, transforming data into actionable insights across operations, developers, SREs, and executives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Senior Solutions Architect on client projects, leading planning, execution, delivery, and communication.
• Partner with clients to develop and adopt Observability strategies that reduce noise and surface actionable intelligence.
• Understand client objectives and guide them toward business-aware observability.
• Contribute to discovering opportunities, defining project scopes, and transitioning engagements into SOWs.
• Ensure projects are planned, tracked, and escalate issues to Engineering Leadership as needed.

As the Director of Engineering Services you’ll play a vital role at Evolutio. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive leader who is passionate about growing our business while growing themselves and mentoring others on their growth journey. This person will be a major advocate for our clients's technical and business outcomes as the pace of change for technology transformation gets faster by the day. We expect this person to exemplify and coach others towards a growth mindset. Our Consulting and Professional Services capabilities are paramount to Evolutio's success. The Director of Engineering Services should be excited by the idea of creating a culture where our engineering consulting team want to come to work every day, do their best work, and feel personally supported and valued. We are looking for someone who can critically assess a situation and give clear guidance to stakeholders regarding what action is required, specifically in difficult situations. We need someone willing to invest in our people and coach them toward doing their part in achieving Evolutio're business objectives. This role will grow teams of people underneath them, who all need to represent the brand and quality of our current group of Consulting professionals. This role will be part of the leadership team of the Evolutio organization, reporting to the CTO.

Client Facing [50%]

• Solutions Architecture & Project Delivery: Serve as a Senior Solutions Architect on billable client projects, leading project planning, execution, delivery, and communication.
• Observability Strategy & Adoption: Partner with clients to develop, implement, and adopt Observability strategies that eliminate noise, surface actionable intelligence, and pave the way for AI. Bridge gaps across people, process, tooling, and culture.
• Executive Alignment: Put yourself in the shoes of senior client leadership to understand their short-and long-term objectives and guide them toward business-aware observability.
• Opportunity Scoping & SOWs: Key contributor to discovering client opportunities, defining project scopes, and transitioning engagements into Statements of Work (SOWs).
• Project Oversight & Escalation: Ensure projects are planned, tracked, and executed appropriately, escalating issues to Engineering Leadership as needed.

Team Leadership [25%]

• Team Growth & Development: Build, maintain, and scale a cohesive engineering team. Actively develop engineers and architects into highly capable technical leaders at their own pace.
• Performance & Delivery Management: Host weekly project alignment calls, remove blockers, and evaluate team performance to provide targeted support where needed.
• Cross-Functional Escalation Support: Collaborate across teams to support struggling projects and clients, resolving challenging situations productively and effectively.
• Quality & Timeliness: Ensure client engagements meet Evolutio’s quality standards, stay within agreed scope, and land on schedule.
• Practice Profitability: Oversee the standalone balance sheet for Engineering Services, continually optimizing profitability as the team scales.

Evolutio Leadership [25%]

• Governance & Executive Decision-Making: Participate in weekly alignment calls, contribute to executive decision-making, and shape corporate policies (e.g., expenses, benefits, operational guidelines).
• Strategic Pillar Accountability: Drive initiatives supporting core strategic pillars, specifically maximizing Professional Services profitability, expanding key accounts (Tier 1 & 2), and advancing Agentic AI capabilities.
• Cross-Functional Friction Removal: Identify operational bottlenecks between Sales, Delivery, and Alignment teams to implement rapid solutions.
• Financial & OpEx Management: Monitor practice health metrics, manage team capacity against OpEx budgets, and maintain profitability targets.
• Capacity & Headcount Strategy: Collaborate on hiring triggers, capacity formulas, and interim coverage during team transitions.
• Cultural Leadership: Exemplify core values (Proactive, Driven, Evolutionaries, Dependable), foster open feedback, and lead communications in Town Halls and All-Hands meetings.

Qualifications And Requirements

• 12+ years of Engineering experience in Observability, SRE, and/or DevOps
• 6+ years of Engineering Leadership experience, including leading teams of engineers that do client or internal-facing consulting work at a large scale
• Proven Track Record in Consulting Mentorship: Demonstrated experience coaching and training teams on technical and non-technical consulting skills (e.g., breaking down SOWs into deliverables, framing proposed deliverables, step-by-step execution, client collaboration/presentation).
• Deep Observability Expertise: Command of Observability concepts in a vendor-agnostic manner, understanding how to transform raw data into actionable insights across operations, developers, SREs, and executives.
