Job summary

NiSource is hiring a Director, Portfolio Planning & Origination to lead the origination, energy supply planning, and regulatory support. The role is based in Columbus, Ohio or Merrillville, IN with a 3-days/week hybrid schedule and oversight of a multi-billion-dollar capacity portfolio.

The position requires a deep background in wholesale energy markets, strong leadership, and proven experience in deal origination, negotiations, and project development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in engineering, finance, business administration, or equivalent.
• Extensive experience with wholesale electric market operations and energy origination.
• Experience leading a complex department with regulatory-based processes.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead short-term and long-term generation capacity replacement activities.
• Design and review RFPs and lead commercial negotiations for asset acquisitions and PPAs.
• Manage existing generation supply agreements totaling billions in capital and rate-base.
• Provide testimony in regulatory filings and support tax equity financing.
• Coordinate with Risk, Credit, and Treasury on counterparty risk.
• Oversee market registrations for new generation assets and rate-case activities.
• Develop and support production costing models and forecasts.
