Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking aDirector, Portfolio Planning & Origination to lead a broad energy origination and planning function in either Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN with a 3-day hybrid schedule.

You will drive RFP processes, negotiate long-term supply agreements, and oversee large-scale capacity commitments for Indiana/Kentucky markets. The role requires deep experience in wholesale markets, regulatory affairs, and multi-department leadership to balance supply and demand through 2030 and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Extensive experience with wholesale electric market operations, gas trading, origination, and renewables.
• Minimum of 10 years in electric or gas utility industries.
• Experience leading a multifaceted origination/market/regulatory team.
• Strong planning, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage duties under normal, emergency, and contingency situations.
• Knowledge of rates, tariffs, cost allocation and regulatory processes.
• Track record of commercial success from origination to asset in-service.

Responsibilities

• Lead short-term and long-term generation capacity replacement activities.
• Design and review Requests for Proposals and lead negotiations for assets and PPAs.
• Manage existing generation supply agreements and capital investments.
• Provide testimony and support for CPCN and regulatory filings.
• Coordinate with risk, credit, and treasury on counterparty risk.
• Develop production costing models and support market testimony.
• Interface with regulatory, finance, and policy teams on tariffs.
• Oversee rate case activities and data requests; ensure accurate settlements.
