Job summary

CSU Bakersfield seeks a Director of Employee and Labor Relations & Compliance to provide strategic leadership over staff relations, workplace conduct, and performance management. You will administer CBAs, manage grievances, and coordinate with legal counsel to resolve disputes.

The role reports to the AVP, People Strategy & Workforce Administration, and requires collaboration with union partners and campus administrators to align practices with CSU policies and federal/state laws.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of labor relations, employee relations, and grievance handling.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills essential.
• Familiarity with policies, laws, and collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee employee and labor relations investigations and documentation.
• Coordinate with legal counsel and campus partners on investigations and proceedings.
• Lead development and implementation of staff policies and compliance programs.
• Supervise staff personnel policy development and records retention.
• Represent University in labor relations matters and hearings.
