The role you’ll contribute:
The Director of Employee Health leads the Employee Health function for AdventHealth, setting strategy, vision, and leading implementation of strategic initiatives to ensure best-in-class employee health services. This role aligns health and safety policies with regulatory requirements, collaborates with Risk Management on workforce safety, and develops strategies for injury prevention and disease management.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Collaborates with the Corporate Employee Health Medical Director, Executive Director, Health and Well-being, and the Employee Health Governance Committee to lead strategy, design, and implementation of employee health best practice programs and services
- Leads the Employee Health Governance Committee to develop and implements policies that ensure high-quality employee health programs and services
- Develops and leads strategy for employee health initiatives, including, but not limited to, vaccinations, flu campaigns drug screen practices, market worker’s compensation practices and modified duty
- Develops and leads strategy for disease exposures (e.g., Covid and other communicable diseases)
- Collaborates with Risk Management on injury prevention and safety programs. Develops new programming and educational offerings to prevent injury, increase safety and improve health
- Leads design, development, and deployment of reporting systems for workplace injuries, near misses, and disease exposures, etc. to ensure leadership insights and effectiveness of programming
- Leads systemwide employee health team through influence, effective communication and consensus building. Rounds routinely with markets
- Mentor and collaborate with regional employee health leaders to assure training, quality, resources and compliance are meeting organizational goals.
- Ensures compliance with accreditation, documentation, risk management and privacy requirements
- Leads the efforts of assigned staff, providing direction and development to ensure services are delivered on time and at expected quality levels
- Develops and monitors department budget for employee health activities including team resources and all related expenses as well as consults with markets on employee health expenses, budget planning and implementation of new services.
- Monitors quality and addresses areas of variance between regions and clinics, providing consultation and mentorship for improvement, and identifying best practices to propagate throughout the system.
- Reports on quality and effectiveness of programs and services through system Employee Health Governance Committee and other business partners
- Identifies, designs, and implements innovative and impactful improvements to employee health processes that materially improve efficiencies and quality of programs and services
- Collaborates with IT on employee health initiatives that require technology related solutions and tools
- Provides direct leadership to the Employee Health Analyst
- Provides indirect leadership to all Employee Health teams system-wide
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Bachelor's of Nursing
- 3+ years of experience leading an occupational health clinic or occupational health team
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), accreditation requirements and quality improvement processes
- Expert knowledge of clinical operations in occupational health/employee health setting
- Expert leadership skills and expertise in leading and inspiring teams, relationship building and consensus building
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Employee Health EMR software, and other technology platforms. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership, partners (both internal and external), employees and other contacts
- Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- 5 + years of experience leading an occupational health clinic or occupational health team
- Expert knowledge of strategic planning and health system organization related to employee health.
- Expert knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Pregnant Worker’s Fairness Act (PWFA) Workers Compensation, OSHA and principles of Human Resources.
- Expert knowledge advancing patient quality and safety initiatives
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure with the Florida State Board of Nursing
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
- COHN - Certified Occupational Health Nurse
- COHN-S - Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist
