Job summary

Gray AES seeks a Director of Electrical Engineering-MEP to lead the electrical group across projects, mentoring managers and senior engineers while driving design excellence.

You will oversee technical execution, QA/QC, client relationships, budgeting, and proposal strategy, coordinating with architectural, structural, and automation teams, with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the electrical engineering discipline, aligning team capabilities with business goals and market demands.
• Oversee the technical execution, quality assurance, and delivery of electrical engineering services across all project phases.
• Lead and mentor engineering managers, senior engineers, and design staff, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated design solutions, coordinating with architectural, structural, mechanical, and automation teams.
• Drive process optimization, including QA/QC standards, technology adoption, and documentation workflows. Support business development efforts, including proposal strategy, client presentations, and relationship management.
• Lead resource planning, hiring strategy, and succession planning for the electrical engineering team.
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards across all engineering activities.

Who we want…

• Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, proposal development, client engagement, and strategic planning.

• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
