Sr. Electrical Engineer‑MEP

Gray AES is looking to add a Sr. Electrical Engineer‑MEP to our Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX and Lexington, KY office.

Who We Want
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineering License is required
  • 7–10 years of professional experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong background in Gray’s core markets
  • Proven expertise in electrical systems design, including lighting, power distribution, grounding, lightning protection, telecommunications, and security systems
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IBC, and client‑specific requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM coordination workflows, with experience leading model integration and clash detection
  • Advanced proficiency with electrical design tools (e.g., SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills for system analysis, cost modeling, and performance optimization
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead client discussions, present technical concepts, and coordinate across disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project deliverables, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to strategic planning and quality assurance
  • Detail‑oriented, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement and professional development
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Qualifications
  • Serve as lead electrical engineer on assigned projects, overseeing design scope, technical quality, and code compliance
  • Develop and validate electrical system designs, including lighting, power, grounding, and low‑voltage systems tailored to project and client needs
  • Perform and review design calculations, energy code compliance assessments, and system performance modeling
  • Lead the coordination of electrical design with architectural, structural, mechanical, and technology disciplines
  • Produce and oversee drawings, specifications, and BIM models, ensuring accuracy and integration across project phases
  • Manage project schedules and budgets related to electrical scope, supporting project managers in planning and execution
  • Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings, ensuring design intent and quality standards are upheld
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and site visits, representing the electrical discipline and providing technical leadership
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of internal design standards and best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and team collaboration
  • Other duties as assigned
