Job description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Director of Elder Fraud Prevention and Financial Stability will lead the design, execution, and expansion of multi-market initiatives that protect older adults from financial exploitation, fraud, and abuse. The Director will serve as a key public voice for the organization, engaging with media, funders, policymakers, and community partners, while overseeing program delivery across multiple cities. This individual brings deep subject matter expertise, executive-level communication skills, and the ability to build systems that scale impact nationally.

The director will develop the knowledge and understanding of the many methods to defraud seniors and will be considered a National Leader in Fraud Prevention. This will require the candidate to continue to learn and understand the current and evolving techniques for fraud.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight
  • Set vision and strategy for elder financial protection and financial stability programming, aligning with organizational mission and growth goals
  • Oversee implementation and performance of programs across multiple markets, ensuring consistency, quality, and measurable outcomes
  • Identify emerging trends in elder fraud, scams, and financial exploitation; translate insights into responsive, scalable program strategies
  • Build and refine systems, tools, and processes to support program delivery, tracking, and evaluation at scale
  • Partner with executive leadership to guide organizational strategy and thought leadership in the field
External Relations & Public Leadership
  • Serve as a primary spokesperson and public-facing leader for the organization in matters of elder financial fraud prevention and financial stability, representing the organization in media appearances, public forums, and high-level stakeholder engagements
  • Deliver compelling presentations to seniors, funders, community organizations, and cross-sector partners
  • Shape and communicate clear, impactful messaging on financial vulnerability and elder protection, and methods to secure the financial future of seniors
National Development and Geographical Outreach

Develop and raise financial resources, both locally and nationally, from individual donors, grantor agencies, corporate sponsorships, estate planning attorneys and high-wealth gatekeepers, in order to grow the Senior Financial Stability program financially.
Cultivate and develop relationships with key stakeholders and influencers to further the Senior Financial Stability initiative in cities throughout the nation, with an initial focus on communities where Elder Fraud workshops will be held. Existing Elder Fraud funding will likely include, but is not limited to, the following communities: San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, New York, Houston, Chicago, Miami, Washington D.C., St. Louis, Phoenix, and Sacramento.

Partnership and Relationships Development & Coalition Building
  • Build local and national collaborative relationships with FBI, law enforcement agencies, city attorneys, local media, and regulatory entities to strengthen Elder Fraud prevention and response efforts
  • Lead development of cross-sector partnerships with nonprofits, financial institutions, government agencies, and community-based organizations
  • Foster inclusive, culturally responsive engagement strategies across diverse communities
  • Grants, Compliance & Impact Reporting

  • Partner with development team to support grant strategies, proposal development, and funder engagement
  • Ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements
  • Oversee tracking of deliverables, budgets, and outcomes in partnership with finance and development teams for all elder fraud and financial stability funding sources
  • Lead preparation of high-quality narrative and data-driven reports for funders, government agencies, and board stakeholders
Operations & Team Leadership
  • Oversee program operations for elder fraud and financial stability initiatives, including multi-city logistics, scheduling, and execution of events and training
  • Supervise and mentor program staff and/or regional leads, fostering a culture of accountability and impact
  • Ensure consistent internal communication, including clear reporting on program status, risks, and milestones
  • Manage travel and on-the-ground engagement across relevant program locations
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required
  • 8-12+ years of experience in financial services, estate planning, elder law, consumer protection, or a related field; experience in nonprofit leadership a plus
  • Demonstrated expertise in issues impacting older adults, including financial vulnerability and exploitation
  • Proven experience leading multi-site or national programs with measurable outcomes, or commensurate experience
  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills; comfortable engaging large and diverse audiences
  • Strong executive presence with experience serving in a public-facing or spokesperson role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including external communications
  • Demonstrated ability to build systems and operational infrastructure
  • Experience building and managing cross-sector partnerships
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently
Preferred
  • Experience working with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, or national advocacy organizations
  • Media training or significant experience with press and public relations
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Social Security, and related systems
  • Experience managing grant-funded programs, including compliance and reporting
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities highly desired
