Job summary

Equitable Facilities Fund (EFF) seeks a Director, School Lending and Underwriting to manage underwriting for a portfolio of high-impact charter schools. You will balance credit quality with social impact while leading multiple deals annually and collaborating across Lending, Outreach, and Asset Management teams.

You will help shape underwriting processes, including exploring AI enhancements, and travel regionally to engage with schools and intermediaries.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant professional experience in CDFI lending, commercial lending, investment banking, charter school financial management, impact investing, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related field
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Experience conducting financial, operational, and programmatic due diligence of charter schools
• Ability to manage team members and complex workflows
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to travel 25–35% of the time

Responsibilities

• Manage structuring, underwriting, and preparation of 10 to 12 transactions annually for Credit Committee approval
• Conduct comprehensive credit analysis and lead each transaction through underwriting
• Delegate deal-specific responsibilities to associates and ensure rigorous execution
• Collaborate with Directors and VPs across the Underwriting team
• Serve as a key contact for schools throughout underwriting
• Interface with Lending, School Outreach, and Asset Management teams
• Build underwriting expertise and market knowledge in 3–5 geographic markets
• Lead deals in key markets and engage local intermediaries
• Develop and refine systems, including exploring AI usage
• Participate in strategic planning and cross-functional team-building
• Lead special projects advancing mission and serving more schools
• Represent EFF at conferences and panels
• Perform other duties as assigned
