Job summary

Girls Educational and Mentoring Services seeks an Economic Empowerment Director (EED) to design and implement macro and micro level economic empowerment programming for girls and young women who have faced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking.

The EED will lead a team of educational and employment-readiness specialists delivering Educational Initiative and Pathways programs with a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens to support members toward educational and vocational goals

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a Director role.
• 3–5 years of experience supervising staff.
• Bachelor’s Degree required; MA preferred.
• Experience developing youth development, work readiness curricula and lesson plans.
• Knowledge of educational and employment barriers for low-income youth and victims of violence in NYC.
• Knowledge of NYC workforce landscape and resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall direction for strategic learning and development within the organization and the Economic Empowerment Program.
• Research, develop and facilitate educational prep, employment readiness, and financial literacy programming.
• Supervise the Economic Employment Manager and support skill enhancement and training.
• Develop and implement assessments and plans to support members' career pathways to living wage employment.
• Create budgets with members to support economic independence and manage program finances.
• Lead weekly employment readiness, resume writing, budgeting, and job search workshops.
• Build relationships with educational, vocational and employer partners to support members’ needs.
• Provide ongoing education and job coaching and match members to mentors in their field.
