Job summary

Tarsus is seeking a Director, Early Development - Clinical Sciences in Irvine, CA to lead cross-functional teams and shape early phase clinical development plans. You will author key documents, ensure regulatory alignment, and drive efficient trial design and execution.

The role requires a deep scientific background with at least 10 years in biotech/pharma clinical development and 8 years in leadership, plus hands-on problem solving and collaboration across operations, regulatory, and medical

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in sciences (e.g. PharmD, MD, PhD) with deep experience in early clinical development.
• Experience in ophthalmology is preferred; dermatology or infectious diseases a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of biotech/pharmaceutical clinical development experience, with a minimum of 8 years leadership in clinical trial management experience required.
• Established leadership track record with evidence of performance-based people management, problem solving, collaboration, cross functional leadership and effective communication skills.
• Expertise with SOPs, GCPs and regulatory and compliance guidelines for clinical trials.
• Must be willing to be "hands on" and delve into details.

Responsibilities

• Maintains direct ownership of early development clinical deliverables and contributes to protocol development and study execution.
• Shape clinical plans including timelines and budgets for clinical teams.
• Author and review clinical/regulatory documents ensuring regulatory alignment and quality execution.
• Lead and oversee training of study investigators on protocol and trial procedures.
• Develop foundational education material to inform early development program strategies.
• Interpret clinical data to support data-driven decisions.
• Represent program leads at core teams, investigator meetings and scientific advisory boards.
