Job summary

Tarsus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Sr Director, Clinical Sciences to lead the Eyecare Clinical Science function from early development through lifecycle management.

You will partner with Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Biostats, Medical Affairs and Commercial to translate target product profiles into robust development plans and high-quality trial designs. Based in Irvine with a hybrid work environment, you will guide study designs, leadership of cross-functional teams, and publication

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in sciences (PharmD/MD/PhD) with deep experience in early clinical development.
• Experience in ophthalmology preferred; dermatology or infectious diseases a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years biotech/pharmaceutical clinical development experience, with a minimum of 8 years leadership in clinical trial management.
• Proven track record leading teams, problem solving, collaboration, and effective communication.
• Expertise with SOPs, GCPs and regulatory guidelines for clinical trials.
• Must be willing to be hands on and delve into details.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership to cross‑functional study and program teams, ensuring timely study start‑up, enrollment, database lock, analysis, and readouts.
• Lead the design of clinical development plans and individual study protocols (objectives, endpoints, inclusion/exclusion, assessments, statistical assumptions).
• Own clinical deliverables, contribute to protocol development, document authoring, data review and execution decisions to ensure rigor and quality.
• Shape clinical plans including timelines, budgets and oversight of clinical teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with investigators, KOLs, and external partners; contribute to publication strategy.
• Drive innovation in clinical endpoints, biomarkers, and digital tools; champion process improvements.
• Authorize and review key clinical and regulatory documents (protocols, SAPs, CSRs, IBs) ensuring regulatory alignment.
• Conduct research to develop foundational education material for early development programs.
• Interpret clinical data and support data-driven decisions.
• Serve as program lead on early development Core teams, investigator meetings and scientific advisory boards.
