The Urban Land Institute is hiring two Directors, District Council Success in Washington, DC, for a hybrid role that leads a portfolio of District Councils and coaches Executive Directors to grow membership, revenues and council health.

You will partner with chairs and boards, share best practices across the network, and work closely with ULI headquarters. A 10+ year track record in association management and nonprofit leadership is expected.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in association management or nonprofit networks.
• Experience leading a nonprofit organization with full budget responsibility.
• Track record managing senior staff and executives.
• Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills.
• Ability to work with volunteer leaders in a matrixed organization.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
• Experience leading an inclusive distributed remote team.
• Bachelor’s degree; CAE or similar credential is a plus.
• Commitment to responsible land use.

Responsabilités

• Lead a portfolio of District Councils and share responsibility for council results.
• Analyze performance, spot risks and opportunities, and translate into actions.
• Approve council budgets and annual work plans.
• Directly manage the Executive Directors, including goal setting and reviews.
• Act as expert coach and advisor to Executive Directors and teams.
• Recruit, develop and retain outstanding council staff and foster trust.
• Lead a network-wide area of practice and set standards.
• Connect councils with each other and share best practices.
• Step in for the Senior Vice President when needed.
• Advise chairs and boards on governance and strategy; represent ULI with partners.
• Coordinate with headquarters teams and bring ULI content to life locally.
