Job summary

QTS Data Centers in Irving, TX seeks a Director of Development to lead complex customer deployment projects for mission-critical facilities. You will liaise between Sales, Operations, Property Development and the Customer, driving design, pricing, approvals and successful implementation.

The role requires a strong background in data center design and construction management with the ability to travel up to 50% and to manage multiple large projects with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Architecture.
• Ten+ years progressive responsibility in Mission Critical Facilities development.
• Five+ years in data center project construction with large-scale centers or DC lease providers.
• Travel up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Manage the customer deployment project delivery for each sold deal at each QTS location.
• Coordinate with Property Development and consultants to support design, pricing, approvals and deployment scopes.
• Align clients’ objectives with vendor management and cross-group collaboration.
• Drive client relationships and cost management to deliver on time and on budget.
• Serve as single contact for Federal sales support on secured deals.

The Director, Development requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, strong background in data center design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements, with an emphasis on project/construction management. In this role, you will function as QTS’ point of contact for new client builds and implementations and liaise between the QTS Sales Team (Account Exec and Sales Engineer), the QTS Operations Team, the QTS Property Development Team, and the Customer. The PSCM will work closely with existing Development Construction Project Managers to ensure the customers’ needs are carried out to high levels of expectation.

The position will report into the QTS Property Development department and work closely with the CHO and CRO, depending on the origin of the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, Other Duties May Be Assigned.

• Manage the customer deployment project delivery for each sold deal within each QTS location
• Coordinate with the QTS Property Development team, and supporting specialty consultants, to support customer’s design needs, pricing, customer approvals, & implementation of specific deployment scopes
• Manage the delivery of these projects, this position aligns clients’ objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts across the QTS organization
• Drive effective client relationship management and efficient cost management, with the ultimate goal of delivering the project on time and on budget
• Serve as a single contact for Federal sales support on potential secured deals

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or professional licenses in Construction Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Architecture
• Ten or more years of progressive responsibility in development of Mission Critical Facilities
• Five or more years of responsibility of data center project construction with large-scale data centers or DC lease providers
• Be able to travel up to 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing multiple large, multi-faceted projects
• Experience with Construction Health & Safety Knowledge
• Experience with Customer Deployment Technologies and Equipment, RCDD a plus.
