Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design seeks a Director to lead the Joseph Ballay Center for Design Fusion. The role partners with the Head of the School of Design, faculty, and staff to expand offerings, coordinate educational activities, and pursue strategic collaborations with industry and nonprofit partners.

The Director will develop the center’s vision, manage budgets, and oversee sponsored projects while building new partnerships on and off campus to advance CMU’s design initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years in a leadership role managing ongoing relationships with corporate and foundation representatives
• 5-8 years identifying and communicating information to develop relationships with stakeholders
• 5-8 years developing and evaluating strategies to identify new relationships
• Experience managing budgets with auditable records

Responsibilities

• Pursue ongoing opportunities for growth and expand through design-led projects
• Develop partnerships with industry and nonprofit partners with university offices
• Oversee delivery of courses and professional education, coordinating faculty and staff
• Lead day-to-day operations of the Center and coordinate budget and staffing
