Job summary

Intervala is seeking an experienced Director of Design Engineering to lead our Design Engineering organization and deliver innovative manufacturing solutions for customers across Aerospace & Defense, Medical, Industrial, and Transportation. This strategic leader will build high‑performing teams and drive continuous improvement in a fast‑paced electronics environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams.
  • Strong project management experience including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Experience working in ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, or similarly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, TQM, IPC standards, and quality management systems.
  • Experience leading CAD/CAE initiatives.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to travel as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Design Engineering team, establishing priorities, goals, and performance expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and defect prevention methodologies.
  • Oversee CAD/CAE engineering efforts and ensure manufacturing methods support customer requirements and operational excellence.
  • Lead engineering support for production, ensuring robust manufacturing processes and efficient product launches.
  • Manage engineering resources across multiple complex projects, balancing priorities and meeting business objectives.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Production to resolve technical challenges and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and implementation of process improvements.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement actions to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and long‑term engineering initiatives that support company growth.
  • Participate in recruiting, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning for the engineering organization.
  • Serve as a technical leader while fostering a collaborative, customer‑focused culture across the organization.

What You’ll Do
