Job summary

OPSWAT is seeking a Director of Engineering for MetaDefender Email Security. This globally distributed role requires hands-on leadership, AI-native development, and a strong security posture.

You will own architecture, delivery, and the teams across Romania and Hungary, with a preference for the UK, USA or nearby OPSWAT locations. You’ll lead from the front, maintain architectural rigor, and drive a high‑performance culture while collaborating with Product, Design, andSecurity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years software engineering experience.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams (managers/leads).
• Experience with agentic AI SDLC in enterprise settings.
• Strong architectural and security-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI-first engineering across on-prem and cloud deployments.
• Stay hands-on: code, architecture, prototyping, reviews.
• Own end-to-end delivery of the roadmap and execution.
• Set technical direction and defensible architecture choices.
• Build and grow a high-performance, distributed team.
• Drive security-first quality across code and reviews.
• Improve velocity with CI/CD and AI-assisted workflows.
• Codify AI-native practices for the portfolio.
• Collaborate with VP of Products, Design, and security leaders.
