Job summary

Figma seeks a senior leader to guide engineers across Data Platform, owning delivery, technical direction, and team health. You will set the roadmap for your sub‑area, provide hands‑on leadership, and drive reliability and forward strategy as adoption grows organization‑wide.

You'll hire, mentor, and coach engineers and tech leads, partnering with Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering to identify priorities and balance near‑term execution with long‑term platform investments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years managing engineers, incl. senior ICs or tech leads.
• Experience building/scaling data platforms or data infrastructure.
• Strong software engineering background with current depth.
• Ability to partner with Data Science, Product, Finance and Engineering.
• Set technical direction and prioritize under ambiguity with clear written communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers building and operating Figma's data platform.
• Set roadmap and technical strategy for sub-areas and provide hands-on leadership.
• Drive reliability and scalability as adoption grows across teams.
• Hire, grow, and coach engineers and tech leads to build a high performing team.
• Partner with Data Science, Product, Finance, and Engineering to align priorities.
• Make build vs. buy decisions and manage platform vendors when appropriate.
• Keep delivery predictable while balancing near-term needs and long-term investments.
