Job summary

SQUIRE is seeking a Director, Data Engineering to build and lead our Data organization with a hands-on split. You’ll own long-term data architecture, set direction for data engineering, ML engineering, and analytics, and grow a 5+ person team while shaping the company’s AI and automation roadmap.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data or software engineering, with 4+ years managing engineers.
• Experience building a multidisciplinary data organization of 5+ people.
• Advanced SQL and Python with strong MDM fundamentals.
• Hands-on with Snowflake, dbt, and orchestration tools (Airflow/Dagster/Prefect).
• Experience setting AI/LLM enablement strategy and tooling.
• Director-level controls including budgets and roadmaps while remaining hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and debug high-impact data pipelines connecting CRM, billing, and internal platforms to Snowflake.
• Own data strategy and architecture over multi-year horizon while staying hands-on with systems.
• Set technical direction and standards for pipeline design, data modeling, and data quality.
• Build and lead a data organization of 5+ professionals across teams.
• Lead headcount planning, hiring strategy, and budget for Data.
• Collaborate with executives to translate strategy into data contracts and platform investments.
• Audit existing integrations and determine replacements and priorities.
• Champion AI and automation with a trusted data foundation; build enablement capabilities.
